I voted for you! Actually most of the usual suspects like Brit Green, Large Collidable, Akirei, Sarah Schneider, and Riot Girl make the list. Celebrities like Vile Rat, Seleene, Chribba and Mittani and most of CCP seem to fill out the list. Great list! Nova you have one of the best Intaki that I have seen! I know that the current system doesn't allow bloodline sorting (or even gender) but I would like to see how you stack compared to other Intaki since the list is so full of Achura! |

Yes, and you did win when it did count I do also like the new look for Ariel Dawn. It is fun to see people switch up their avatars. I resculpted this character 6 or 7 times at the end of last year when the option became available. By the last couple I noticed I was just flipping back and forth between very minor details and freckles that could only be seen in side by side comparisons so I think this will be it for now.
The most important thing is for you to like your character's look. We all have different traits that we find attractive and it is not surprising if the rest of the player base do not agree with you. I tend to go for the no cheekbone and a very dainty jawline look. I'm also a fan of noses and deep set eyes so Gallente/Gallente was an easy choice. I believe the female Sebeistor, Civire, and Achura features however, tend to be more popular amongst players. |

I agree, different strokes... The chin tattoo on women always looked a bit too much like a goatee to me, and I have not a fan of facial piercings or zombie eyes either. Maybe it is because I see this sort of thing daily on the bus (there is a guy with a big Decepticon symbol on his forehead, and almost everyone I know and live with have multiple tattoos) since I live in San Francisco.
This is all just a matter of taste of course since there are a nice mix in the top 100. |

Removing 120 characters every month seems like a good portion of the database. Looking at the "hall of shame" I would imagine cleaning out the current 25 over the course of a month or two is more than enough.
Every week also seems a bit frequent. I'm not sure if I will be logging on once a week. I do think the occasional reset does work with the total votes (instead of ratios) since new players total wins and loses are otherwise behind. |

That alt in particular (she was one of the neweden launch characters not added by me that I believe taken from Reality X's site) is not one of my favorites, and I am frankly surprised that she was even in the top 100 since the restart. I'm always happy when I see people voting for any of my characters, but this is indeed rather ridiculous. Is there a way for the system to disregard any extra votes a character gets within a given minute? |

I like most of the top 100, although maybe not in that particular (Affinity and Damia Gray are high on my list) order. There are a few that are sadly missing though like Alice Saki, Altrue and until recently Riot Girl. I think I prefer the old pre-reset (voted a bit more on it) list a bit more. |

I also believe that there are factors like scars, piercings, monocles, facial tattoos and mohawks that work for male avatars that I vote for but do not end up in the top 100 male list. This is probably not helping them get in the top 100 since we are voting for very different factors. I think that in some ways the female avatars tend to have more clearer definitions on what is considered traditionally pretty. Just a speculation.
I am also convinced that many of the ranks are due to who you are paired up against. This is the first time in the sites three incarnation that Celeste has been number one, and I believe that part of it is due to being matched against Celeste Lovette (who isn't bad, but is a bit awkward with those lips and facial piercings) for most of this run. My other avatars are all ranked in a weird order too.
While I think that most of the top 100s are gorgeous I do miss Antares Rai, Damia Gray, Demeter Gray, Alice Saki, Riot Girl and a bunch of others who I also suspect are paired against strong avatars. On the other hand Nova Kierra Slave Tama and Yunnai who I always vote for are near the top and Sanya just broke into the list! |

Ila Dace wrote:The other Ila was number 1 for about a week in a previous iteration. Now 43%, that doesn't seem right.
I agree. The busiest I have been in NEF was back during that "previous matches" era when she was the top Ni-Kunni. Great looking character. I feel as though that was my favorite list, and I think Celeste tended to drift just around that top14 cut off through most of it. I still stand by my "locked opponents" theory, since a few of my favorite characters (mine and other peoples) have not made it to the top 100. There are also some matches like Ugly Douchebag and Rok Tar who are locked together, ensuring that they both stay around 50% despite both being hideous. I usually hate bagging on other avatars, but it is clear both were designed to be very ugly.
I think we have seen some major ethnic leanings with each iteration. I remember a time when CCP Soundwave, Private Panikan, Kin Ha, Sajuuk Brutor, Seam Daigon, Militant Barbie and a bunch of other darker avatars (back when I voted a bunch) filled the top 14. I think there was also a major Sebiestor and Achura bias at one point. Looks a bit Euro for the top 14 at the moment. Not quite sure what to make of this, but it is something I noticed.
Oh, and yes December is my newest character and considering the resemblance despite being an Intaki decided to use the Taylor (half sister?) name. I think my Civire, Luna (who doesn't get much use) might look a bit more like Celeste and is the second of the Taylor half sisters. I love how the character generator does not restrict your appearance to your bloodline. |

I knew that things were odd with the last round since Celeste was paired up against an avatar who was rather odd looking. I'm sure that was a good reason why she did so well last counter reset compared to previous rounds.
On the other hand I had no idea that people out there thought she is an ugly avatar. 4 loses to 3 wins, and I think one of those wins is actually one of my votes. Ah well, at least most of my other avatars are actually doing well, and in some cases better than that last weird "locked" batch where my favorites did either extremely well or poorly. I am glad overall for the reset and am sure things will even out over time for an even better list than the last one. My favorite is still the one 3 resets ago (last being the character lock, and the one before being ruined by the voting spam, so the one before that with the previous victories listing) even though I didn't have a character in the top 10 for most of the run.
Actually I remember a bunch of negative votes (and just a ton of votes) for most of the avatars that I like at the beginning of each reset. I don't tend to visit the site any more or less throughout a cycle, so perhaps things will eventually settle down, |

Thanks Nova. I notice our avatars tend to climb and descend on these charts together. There are a few others like Riot Girl, Eternal Sophia and Private Panacan who seem to travel up and down with us. Part of the issue is that people like us don't vote against avatars just to keep them from the top. So over the last week there are a bunch of great looking avatars above us (who I don't have the heart to vote against) who have until yesterday had perfect scores. As of I believe yesterday I have started to see some votes against the top circle though, so I believe either a bitter voter just noticed that the counter was reset or someone wants to pull ahead from all those near perfect scores. I do agree that the top 100 is starting to shape well though since most of the avatars that I vote for are there, despite a number of absent ones due to negative voting.
It is weird how fast the males are dropping though. I still believe it has to do with the fact that it is harder to agree with what makes a good looking male avatar. For example I will occasionally vote for one with a facial tattoo (rarely do this for female avatars) but it does look like the community dislikes facial tattoosl, so in effect voting for them will lower the overall top scores for male avatars. It is also easier for me to choose an amazing or hideous female avatar, while often I am at a loss when deciding which male looks better.

Eurydia Vespasian wrote:yay my alt is number 1. and I can promise you I didn't vote once for her...or anyone. I haven't cast a single vote since the site reboot lol. I just can't find the willpower to click through thousands of matches lol
I always vote for you, Claudia, and Alyxandria although seeing how a few of my avatars are floating around the 60% with the others only doing a bit better one might assume that my votes are only a small part of this reboot. It is really odd though that this is the reboot where my characters are all only a handful of votes apart from each other with Celeste at the bottom. One would assume that my smaller participation in voting would result in a larger spread in my character rankings instead of them all being ranked so close together. |
